About Grant

Grant Rostig

Grant Rostig is running for Caldwell County Commissioner in Precinct 4 for November 2 2010.

Rostig, 50, is a six year resident and property owner in Caldwell County. “I wasn’t born in Texas but I got here as quick as I could. I love Texas for our independent mind-your-own-business spirit, our honoring of family values, and our respect for the Texas and U.S. Constitutions. I most treasure the Liberties expressed in the First, Second and Tenth Amendments,” he said.

While working full time in the early 1980’s, Rostig studied computer programming and accounting at university. In 1993, he returned to school and earned a Doctor of Chiropractic degree with high honors. He has also studied nutrition, insurance, real estate, investing, horticulture, law, the Constitution and our founding principles.

Rostig first implemented conservative budgeting, revenue and spending strategies as a ten year old child, managing a large paper route. He has successfully operated high technology businesses, as well as working for several major corporations, including the U.S. Post Office, in technical and project management positions.  He has managed his personal and business financial affairs carefully, has paid all his bills, and has never filed for bankruptcy.

Rostig has been politically active since he was a teenager, volunteering to drive seniors to the polls. A political maverick, he ran unsuccessfully as a Ron Paul endorsed Republican against the incumbent U.S. Congressman in 2006.

The focus of Grant’s campaign is “More Jobs, Lower Taxes”. He will use his experience to creatively promote the substantial benefits of the county to Texas businesses and those beyond.

In line with a prime responsibility of the commissioner’s court, Grant believes that the chronic condition of the roads, illustrates the need for a change in road maintenance procedures and possibly the administrative structure. “Simply re-grading washed out roads is not effective. We need to add quality material, improve drainage and in some cases pave critical sections to save money in the long run,” he said. Furthermore, he understands that the inevitable development of SH130 must be carefully managed for the clear benefit of all residents.

He will seek to reverse, or deflect, the great burdens placed on the county budget by numerous State and Federal unfunded mandates.

Grant recognizes the crucial need to retain quality county employees with reasonable overall compensation. “This will be possible when we cut unneeded spending and we gain tax base from new business putting down roots in our welcoming county,” he said.

Grant has extensive experience crossing all social, ethnic, political and other barriers with an open heart, and therefore can serve all the residents with respect and candor.

He knows that tough decisions lie ahead in this economic, political and banking/finance climate. He is prepared to deeply scrutinize the issues and move to protect the interests of taxpayers and residents.

Grant seeks voter input through his open Internet forums and personally. “I welcome your tough questions and suggestions, now and in the future,” he said. “I will get back to you, listen when you call and answer honestly. I respectfully ask for your vote.”
